So, you're interested in the Escorts? Well, we're interested in you. The Escorts are an ELITE unit with approximately 19 active and 5 honorary members. We escort Abdallah Shrine in the parades. Our unit was started in 1974. On each member’s one year anniversary, the unit gives $100.00 to the Shrine in that member’s name, making them a member in the 100 Million Dollar Club.
Besides escorting parades, we have a Valentine Dance, a Poker Run, the Children's Christmas Program, a spring and fall ride for a weekend trip, and many other activities. Once a month, except in Nov and Dec, we go out to dinner. We also co-sponsor a Christmas 5-Unit Dance.
We feel our Ladies are very important to our unit. They have their own club and are active in supporting us. The Escorts and their Lady's meetings are the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Shrine center. Our dues are $20.00 each year. Any Shriner can join the Escorts, but you must own, or purchase within one year of joining our unit, a Honda Golden Wing; any year, fully dressed, color matched.
Our parade uniform consists of: White Bradford Street shirt with embroidery work on it -- around $50.00; Black Levi's stretch trousers -- around $40.00; Silver basketball jacket with embroidery -- $59.00; Fez -- $96.00, unit lettering for fez $20.00; Black belt, Black boots.
Our dress uniform which is worn to our dances and other events consists of: Black shoes or boots; Black Haggard trousers; Plain white shirt; Black tie, black belt; Brick colored jacket -- approximately $129.00. Your belt buckle, collar tabs, insignias for your shirt and Escort sign for your bike are furnished by the unit as long as you are a member.
