Flying Fez

The Flying Fez club is a group of Nobles that are interested in aviation, and principally, the transportation of children to our hospitals by air.  A noble may belong to our group as well as being a member of another unit.  Our membership is normally about 20 members.  We have no dues.  You do not have to be a private pilot to become a member.  If you are an instrument-rated private pilot with a currant rating, you can be a mission pilot for flights to the hospitals.  We also send a non‑instrument-rated pilot on our trips to complete the flight crew.  Our flights to the Shrine hospitals include the St. Louis , Cincinnati and Galveston Shriners’ Hospitals for Children.  We raise money to finance our flights by collecting and recycling aluminum cans.  We have a lot of support from our Nobility in our efforts.  We have a float that our members pull in the Shriners parades.

We have hanger parties with a picnic during the summer months.  Weather permitting, we take members and guests for sightseeing flights.  In January we have our annual "Barnstormer" party.

We meet on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in meeting room #1.  Our ladies do not meet with us for business meetings but are very involved with our social activities.

If you are interested in aviation and want to learn more of what we are about, call Richard Gibbs, Commander, at 963‑6988.
